also, i have a small locally managed repo because aside of tesla-powered server i have other machines with pascal, for example gtx1080

so i compared what aur already have in compare to my local repo:

#aur:

$ pikaur -Ssq cuda 12.9
cuda-12.9
cudnn9.10-cuda12.9
nccl-cuda12.9
python-pytorch-cuda12.9
python-pytorch-opt-cuda12.9
python-torchvision-cuda12.9
torchvision-cuda12.9

$ pikaur -Ssq nvidia 580
nvidia-580xx-dkms
nvidia-580xx-utils
opencl-nvidia-580xx
lib32-nvidia-580xx-utils
lib32-opencl-nvidia-580xx
libxnvctrl-580xx
nvidia-580xx-settings
noon-nvidia-legacy
~neither local or aur (package need to be forked from upstream):
   !- cuda-tools
   !- magma-cuda
~local only (package need to be cleaned up and uploaded to aur):
   - python-torchaudio
   - cusparselt
   - ffmpeg
   - mpv
   - gmic
   - gimp-plugin-gmic
   - mlt
   - kdenlive

but 580 is exactly last version available for Pascal (SM6.1) - so yeah, this package need to be forked as pascal-only after updating it to 580.159.03 and before updating it to any newer version

that's unlikely that you using same patches as for nvidia-dkms/nvidia-beta-dkms of version X.Y.Z and same patches for nvidia-tesla-dkms X.Y.Z but getting different result - double-check everything or start afresh

if you won't figure it, as a workaround you could stay on lts kernel, before someone would figure it, or i will be finally updating that server

any chance you can support Pascals in the future? they have just fallen out of support from Nvidia mainline drivers, so we are now orphans. Also I could not find a fix in either nvidia-dkms or nvidia-beta-dkms just yet.

because i have teslas p40 with already deprecated SM6.1 i stopped updating that server (since it's offline anyway)

you can try cherry-picking the commit(s) with the fix from nvidia-dkms or nvidia-beta-dkms

getting a module compile error on 6.18.25-1-lts specifically nvidia-drm/nvidia-drm-modeset.o guessing it hasn't been patched yet for 6.18?

@luciferin thanks, i've tested it on tesla server and it builds fine with both current and lts kernels

Sorry for the delay, I forgot to enable notifications! I'd be happy to push a commit if you wanted to make me a co-maintainer. I'm certainly not the best/most experienced, but I have tested it working on my system.

@luciferin, i don't have the access to my server with teslas right at the moment and i don't like the idea to release it before testing - would you like to be added as a co-maintainer?

Getting install errors with the current gcc 14 update. Here is a forum thread with information on how to correct the issue:

!WARNING! it's currently not building with 6.6.15-1-lts (you can downgrade to 6.6.14-2-lts), and not building with 6.7.3.arch1-1 (also you can downgrade)
