Sorry for the absence. It would seem that NoMachine has indeed taken the legacy binaries offline (unless you're a paying customer): https://www.nomachine.com/version-3 I haven't had the time to put into version 4 yet, but it's certainly on my TODO list. I'm more than happy to disown this package or accept changes to the PKGBUILD if someone else has more time to put into the version 4 stuff...

I don't know about the error you are seeing, but if you are looking for something that uses the NX3 code (updated and maintained) that does work, check out x2go.

I don't see a way to even download v3 on the site anymore. An updated version to nomachine 4 would be brilliant!

ice9 > thanks for the feedback. For me, the system crashes (after filling up all the RAM) when I run the install script... I did not know about x2go...seems to be a good alternative.

As far as I can tell, Nomachine version 4 does not have a free version that allows "virtual desktops". The free version will only allow you to share what they call "physical desktops", which appears to mean an actual monitor display. To use virtual desktops, you need to get the Enterprise version of Nomachine. The least expensive Enterprise version that allows virtual desktops appears to be "Nomachine Workstation" from the "Terminal Server Family". It has a 30 day free trial, but after that you have to pay for it. I did manage to install the Nomachine Workstation on my Arch linux server. I had to supply a distro type (since it does not support Arch). I decided to use Fedora, since it is one of the supported distros that use systemd. So the command was: /usr/NX/nxserver --install fedora and I was able to access a virtual desktop from my Windows client machine. Still, I am not willing to pay for the Nomachine Workstation, so I guess I will continue to use x2go instead.

I've put in as much time as I dare on a new PKGBUILD while at work. It doesn't work yet, but it's a start for anyone who cares to fork/contribute changes. It seems to me that they've renamed it from NX to just NoMachine, so I think the work done toward the 4.0 line probably belongs in a new package called nomachine (as you can see from the repo name below). https://bitbucket.org/instarch/nomachine/src/master/PKGBUILD

Oh wow, after all these years they finally released 4.0! I'll certainly take a stab at updating this package, but it may take a while. Every time I've tried to use the pre-release 4.0 stuff it was a horrible failure.
