It works great now. Thanks!

Package adopted, fixed and cleaned up! Forget the deprecated instructions (and never run games as root!), all file manipulation happens in the jail folder ~/.nxengine now.

@rogueeve, Do you intend to maintain this package anymore?

http://www.cavestory.org/downloads_game.php also has the data files. @rogueeve: You said a year ago, that you want to fix this package 'soon'. If you do not want to maintain it anymore, I would gladly adopt and try to fix it.

The link to cavestory.zip is gone. I found the exact same .zip, with identical md5, at http://crashingjets.nu/00/cavestory/cavestory.zip.

It looks like the program installed isn't compiled. You have to type 'sudo make' before running './nx'. Sorry guys for neglecting this package for so long, I'll try to get it fixed properly soon.

I have the same problem as tkln. Does anyone know how to rectify it?

After installing the package pacman prints: >>> PACKAGES NOTES >>> -------------- >>> The game files are in the correct directories and can be extracted >>> -------------- >>> In order to extract files for all users, goto >>> /usr/share/nxengine/ and run ./nx >>> as root in an X environment But when I actually try to do that: aapo ~ $ cd /usr/share/nxengine/; sudo ./nx sudo: ./nx: command not found Also: aapo ~ $ nxengine /usr/bin/nxengine: line 12: ./nx: No such file or directory

Latest version of source seems multi-arch.

The newest update of this can be compiled with no problems.
