There is also a stable version now:
https://aur4.archlinux.org/packages/obs-build/
although it is fairly outdated (>300 commits since the last stable release more than a year ago)

I can successfully build packages for openSUSE with this in a chroot.
Make sure your build-root is not mounted with "nodev" and you use rpm-org, rather than rpm5 from package "rpm".

You can use https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/osc as a front-end for this with "osc build".

You do need KVM or xen for most packages, since you can't build "on openSUSE" otherwise and most packages are for openSUSE.
