Hi! I recompiled the module and the DKMS module on the current (3.18.2) kernel. Then I did a systemctl restart openafs-client preceded by a systemctl daemon-reload. It came back to me with an error message, stating that the module couldn't be started. Yes I use the DKMS, too and I'm aware it should take some seconds - minutes till the module works. sudo systemctl status openafs-client.service ⏎ ● openafs-client.service - OpenAFS Client Service Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/openafs-client.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled) Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Thu 2015-01-15 15:05:14 CET; 16s ago Process: 9878 ExecStart=/usr/bin/afsd $AFSD_ARGS (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE) Process: 9876 ExecStartPre=/usr/bin/modprobe openafs (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) Main PID: 3913 CGroup: /system.slice/openafs-client.service ├─3913 /usr/bin/afsd -dynroot -fakestat -afsdb ├─4035 /usr/bin/afsd -dynroot -fakestat -afsdb ├─4145 /usr/bin/afsd -dynroot -fakestat -afsdb ├─4315 /usr/bin/afsd -dynroot -fakestat -afsdb ├─4509 /usr/bin/afsd -dynroot -fakestat -afsdb ├─9648 /usr/bin/afsd -dynroot -fakestat -afsdb ├─9715 /usr/bin/afsd -dynroot -fakestat -afsdb └─9883 /usr/bin/afsd -dynroot -fakestat -afsdb

@alexpe87: Could you be a bit more specific? In principle it should work with that kernel version. Please note that if you are using the dkms version of the module it takes some time after the first boot of the new kernel for the module to be compiled.

on kernel 3.18.2 seems to be broken for me....

That did it :) Thanks! Let's hope they include something along the lines of your patch in the official repo.

OK, one last attempt :D Please try again. If that does not work we have to wait.

I tried your patch, and compilation moves on a bit, but still doesn't succeed: http://pastebin.com/NbEHfnCp (We don't really need to debug this, I can also just wait until the developers have included support for 3.18.1)

Bevan commented on 2014-12-17 20:32 (UTC)

In the new packages there is a very dirty patch included that should fix the problem. You have to uncomment a line in the build() section of the PKGBUILD for that. This is untested but if you want give it a try :)

Thanks for testing! I followed the error up to a change in Linux 3.18.1. As far as I can see there is no patch for openafs available yet, that addresses this. I will double check and contact the developers.

Thanks! You're really fast :) Unfortunately it still does not compile: http://pastebin.com/Bxci3GQM
