you have to install openbazaard package, this package provides only the frontend written in nodejs.openbazaard(or openbazaard-git or openbazaard-standalone-git) provides the server daemon.

both paths don't exist

you could run the server as systemd service or auto-loaded by the gui.
In the first case server process it's owned by openbazaard user
In the second owned by your user
two paths:

You have to configure /var/lib/openbazaard/ob.cfg. change user and password parameters and let me know

It is broken at the moment.

It doesn't listen on the --server-port and on the client port, and it doesn't start browser like it should.

Dependency `python2-backports.ssl_match_hostname' of `openbazaar' does not exist.

Is this the package: pypy-backports.ssl_match_hostname?
