Hi @Razwerkz! Thanks a lot for this package opera-gx-stable-ffmpeg-codecs-bin I wasn't aware of :) So I can tell that this package, even its version delta with the latest Opera GX one, it's working fine! I'm on Twitch now, and I can see videos :D I'm happy, thanks a lot

also @zedspeirs I found how to integrate the ffmpec codec, also the package name was already opera-gx-stable uploaded by the first uploader, as the filename of the original was also opera-gx-stable on the opera site

This package is broken in many ways, and to this day I still don’t understand the AUR’s “mental illness” around it.

The name is irrelevant: the Linux version of Opera GX is an Early Access package and is not stable at all, despite what its name suggests. It does not properly handle licensing, the ffmpeg codec is not integrated, which makes all streaming platforms perform poorly. Since Opera is a closed-source browser, it can only realistically be built from binaries anyway — so the “-bin” naming would actually be accurate.

Additionally, it removes the original Opera package — why? Even Opera itself treats them as two separate products, and running both browsers in parallel does not cause any issues at all.

@67mustard41 I have suggested this many times before, and I will suggest it again: the current maintainer should collaborate with me on maintaining this properly. Let’s continue keeping Opera GX up to date together in the opera-gx-bin package, instead of trying to patch together this one.
