A split package would be a lot more efficient when compiling and installing both packages, because all the dependencies would have to be checked out only once.
I will open a PR for the desktop/icon file.

Hello @SpotlightKid. I've already made OPN2 available in the AUR as opnplug-git. This was probably not very clear, I should probably add a few notes in README. Your contribution will be welcome, to have a matching shortcut and icon for OPN2. If this is ok for you, send me these files in a PR into resources/applications. Thank you

May I suggest to also build & install the OPN2 variant of the synth? Here's a PKGBUILD for a split package:

I made the icon for the desktop file myself using the some of the graphics found in the sources witg Gimp. If you want to use it, let me know, and I'll send it to you.
