Submit the new otf-material-design-icons package, then use Submit Request in the upper right to merge this into it. Currently I've already submitted a deletion request, however if you do the aforementioned I'll close the request.

Um. How do i delete (or unlist) a package now? I have looked up in the wiki, but I didn't find anything.

This should have been called otf-material-design-icons, please resubmit with the proper name. See Font package guidelines

The URL doesn't exist, it should be https://github.com/google/material-design-icons.

Use the upstream release, do not invent a pkgver.

Use a source() array, do not download with wget--epecially not with sudo. The package() function is already using a fakeroot environment.
