Thanks for the clarification @kamilpajek. Coincidentally, there's no conflict because ttf-dejavu happens to put the TeX Gyre at the end of their family name (but this can't be relied upon).

@jgordon This conflict is due to the fact that package ttf-dejavu contains DejaVuMathTeXGyre.ttf.

I don't think this should be set up to conflict with ttf-dejavu. This package provides just the math companion and you'll need a matching text font.
