@m040601 Thanks for your answers.

I've also made an ovcs-git package. However, the compiled product doesn't work. The v0.15.0 sources works when compilewd with the same compiler flags, so I assume that the current git commit doesn't work (it does compile, but it doesn't run: ovcs server just exits — at least here). I don't have time right now to find out why.

I've just made mdviewer available: https://
aur.archlinux.org/packages/mdviewer-git

Great. Pity he doesnt release a precompiled .tar.gz binary on github.

So usefull to create "xxx-bin" PKGBUILD's. For the ones who dont want 500 Mega of Go installed just to compile.

@kseistrup

When you say “vote”, do you mean here on AUR?

Yes, press the button on this page.

is there an official place somewhere with suggestion and voting for
packages that should enter the official repos?

Not that I'm aware of.

I wish there was one. Specially for tools that are very easy to package like go software. There is the Archlinux forum section "AUR". Some people "ask" for stuff there. One can also directly email a possible Arch official packager guy. Or post something in some Arch official mailing list. But I guess they just randomly pick stuff that they are personally interested in.

As I see it, votes is the simplest option. But no guarantees of sucesss.

As you can see, some AUR PGKBUILD have had lotz of votes for a long time, and are still in the AUR.

You can sort them by,

votes, https://aur.archlinux.org/packages?O=0&SeB=nd&K=&outdated=&SB=v&SO=d&PP=50&submit=Go

or by "Popularity", https://aur.archlinux.org/packages?O=0&SeB=nd&K=&outdated=&SB=p&SO=d&PP=50&submit=Go

Popularity is calculated as the sum of all votes with each vote being weighted
with a factor of 0.98 per day since its creation

(PS: The middle package is a -git.)

To everyone,

Don't forget to cast a vote for this tool, With enough votes this might become an official Arch package.

There are currently 3 PKGBUILD's, "ov", "ov-bin" and "ov-git".

Also the author, a japanese guy, has a lot more very interesting related tools, https://noborus.github.io/index.html

There is even an interesting "ovcs",

A client/server version of Terminal Pager ov.

  • By combining terminal pager with client/server and tmux, it became the strongest SQL client
