From the oxefmsynth homepage: v1.3.4 (2015-11-17) [...] – Linux: fixed possible issue on GUI loading; I guess that fix was counter-productive on some systems (including yours). Please report this issue at oxefmsynths github page.

Tested with Ardour and again - black window. I don't want to install Carla because is useless for me and has too many dependencies. KXStudio version is 1.3.3+git20151102.

I can only guess it's an incompatibility with the mesa library or gcc version. Which version of oxefmsynth does KXStudio provide? Works here in Carla and Tracktion (though some buttons do not work in Tracktion). Can you test with Carla or other VST hosts on your system?[]=vst#qis_it_possible_to_run_vst_plugins_on_linux

Bitwig Studio, also the same happens in Renoise. Build from the Oxe FM Synth homepage even refuses to load (undefined symbol: glDrawArrays). KXStudio version worked without problems on my machine.

Which VST host are you using? Did you try a different one? Does the binary version, which you can download from the Oxe FM Synth homepage work? If not, you should report the issue to the project itself on Github:
