Using this package will waste instead of save disk space if:

  • You're a haskell developer and need the shared libraries/compilers/etc. anyway.
  • You have >10 other statically-linked haskell packages around the same size as Pandoc (in which case you'll get a saving from making them all dynamically linked).

Neither of these scenarios is particularly likely.

Thanks! I was wondering about it, but I use neither zsh nor fish so I preferred to wait for someone to request it :)

It looks like pandoc has added completions for zsh and fish!! You should be able to add them to the package with this patch, but I haven't tested the zsh ones, since I don't use zsh.

@marmis: you're right, the binary is already stripped, so I added the options you suggested.

marmis commented on 2026-07-01 03:41 (UTC)

Since the provided binaries are already stripped, this package should have options=(!strip !debug) to keep the binary unmodified and verifiable against upstream, avoid unnecessary work in makepkg and skip broken -debug packages.

Flagged the wrong repo. Not enough coffee. Sorry about that.

chueewowee commented on 2024-08-20 11:06 (UTC)

Ah thanks, yes I'm reassured. That works!

a821 commented on 2024-08-20 07:08 (UTC)

@chueewowee: perhaps you meant pandoc -D latex? the default templates are located in /usr/share/pandoc/data/templates

chueewowee commented on 2024-08-19 22:23 (UTC)

Could you tell me how I could pull in the default template files?

$ pandoc -D tex Could not find data file templates/default.tex

thanks

Thanks for updating the package. Truly appreciated :)

Any reason this package isn't being updated? It seems there are people willing to take over maintaining it.
