Thanks for the update! But the pkgver() still doesn't look right. The revision number should reflect the number of revisions since the last available tag. This one-liner from the official guidelines would work just fine for this purpose:

git describe --long --tags --abbrev=7 | sed 's/^v//;s/-/.r/;s/-/./'

I removed the date in $pkgver and removed size-optimisations of PNG and GIF images (thus removing two make dependencies).

According to the VCS package guidelines, the pkgver should look like this: 3.0.0.r2.g633932b

Could you please update pkgver() accordingly? The example snippet for the most recent non-annotated tag would work.

Overall, I think there's a lot of potential for cleanup in the PKGBUILD. Let me know if I can help out with a diff.
