Actually I'm rewriting perfmode. The old codebase was considerably bad.

Once I'm done writing and testing I'll look at controlling different RGB Modes for the keyboard. To my knowledge, the default driver doesn't provide a interface for controlling kbd backlight modes. But Faustus does provide an interface, so I'll try to add support for that.

As for permanently shutting down the keyboard, I'll see what I can do about that. Thank you for using perfmode.

Thank you for the feedback on the fans!!

As i know the RGB keyboard is a problem to control, as a non gamer though i was hoping for a solution just to turn it off completely but so far i haven't found anything that can do this.

Sorry for the noob thing, only changed recently to Linux after +30 years as W*ndows user.

@Chinaboy5216 the default driver provides either: fan_boost_mode or throttle_thermal_policy.

The first file does not retain its contents after reboot/hibernation.

And both of these files control both fans, as I have tested on my own TUF laptop, when set to turbo mode using perfmode as I have experienced when running games.

perfmode -l max returns: Perfmode: Insufficient permissions! Run perfmode with superuser permissions - sudo or doas

sudo perfmode -l max returns: Perfmode: Keyboard Backlight level set

cat /sys/class/leds/asus::kbd_backlight/brightness returns: 3

One small question, as the TUF has 2 fans does perfmode control both fans? Just a i would like to know thingy here though.

@Chinaboy5216 hi! can you please send me the output of:

perfmode -l max

or any other led option.

Also please can you post the output of:

cat /sys/class/leds/asus::kbd_backlight/brightness

Fan control working great on Asus TUF FA506QM, keyboard backlight control doesn't work but that's most likely due to the laptop being too new (2021 version TUF)
