I was repeatedly, and on demand, able to (re-)create the 'pull and compile of WX' with the existing PKGBUILD structure.
(As already noted this is not the way makepkg is *suppose* to work.)

Let me be succinct:
- I was repeatedly, and on demand, able to (re-)create the 'pull and compile of WX' with the existing PKGBUILD structure.
(- I noted earlier that this is not the way makepkg is *suppose* to work and the compilation order for the various packages is obvious.)

- Yes, I agree, and I did note that this is not the way makepkg is *suppose* to work. And yes, the compilation order is obvious.

- I was repeatedly, and on demand, able to (re-)create the 'pull and compile of WX' with the existing PKGBUILD structure. So I changed some things to make sure this did NOT happen.

- Yes, I agree, and I did note that this is not the way makepkg is *suppose* to work.
- Yes, the compilation order is *exactly* what I did to incorporate the newer wxgtk (3.0.2). <- This was/is/should-be rather obvious.
- I was repeatedly able to (re-)create the 'pull and compile of WX'. i.e. On demand. Sorry if you disagree.

** I was able to create the recompile of WX on demand.

Nope Nope Nope :<
makedepends array is for stuff that are only required during compile time and can be either uninstalled afterwards or are optdepends (make+opt doesn't happen on AUR for obvious reasons)
makedeps has no influence on build process to you had to change something else (also it doesn't try to recompile itself for a very long time, warning exist for past reasons or cpanm influence which breaks whole perl)

Compilation order:
perl-alien-wxwidgets -> perl-wx -> anything using perl(-alien)-wx

And do not change hardened version of PKGBUILD, cpanm countermeasures are hard and tricky
