Seems like Synthead is right, I got a interactive prompt that loaded automatically and installed stuff in ~/.cpan

No, it installs to `/usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/` as per the PKGBUILD...

This package installs files to the user's home directory! For this to build correctly, it is necessary to sanitize the environment. Please see https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/pe/perl-task-weaken/PKGBUILD

You're right, it doesn't play well with this web site. I had an error in the URL (missing full author's name). Can you try with this version (rel 3), and if that doesn't work for you, I'll fix it here, and then go through some 20 odd packages to fix them as well.. :)

@yhager How can this work for you as is? Look at how Sources is displayed on this page alone, you can not click that link and hit the tarball directly. The variables are not correct as you have them in the current PKGBUILD. Getting rid of those variables does make it work. This is how it should look http://www.cpan.org/authors/id/T/TS/TSIBLEY/Data-ICal-0.19.tar.gz not http://search.cpan.org/CPAN/authors/id/TSIBLEY:0:1}/TSIBLEY:0:2}/Data-ICal-0.19.tar.gz

Well, it works for me. And it's not a problem when you have one PKGBUILD, but when you have about 40, it's nice to have a template with minimum changes required each time you need a new perl package. I get that it is still not working for you? If so, does changing the author name as you suggested fix it?
