Actually, it seems to put the files into the home folder only and not install anything into /usr/share/...

package creates a bunch of folders and files in the current users home folder during configuration/build.
It is strongly recommended that everything is kept within the temporary build directory.

In my case it created ~/.cpan and ~/perl5 and populated them with various files.

Please update pkgrel=3 for new perl module directory changes.

great question. I am using the latest package build from the AUR. Tried with packer and tried makepkg manually.

For some reason, perl-module-build was broken. I rebuilt module-build and then perl-encode-detect installed with no errors.

Compiled just fine for me.

Why is it showing Building Module-Build???

It should show Building Encode-Detect like below.

==> Starting package()...
/usr/bin/perl Build --makefile_env_macros 1 install
Building Encode-Detect

Package breaks on make with permissions error.

/usr/bin/perl Build --makefile_env_macros 1 install
Building Module-Build
ERROR: Can't create '/tmp/packerbuild-1000/perl-encode-detect/perl-encode-detect/pkg/perl-encode-detect/usr/bin/vendor_perl'

make: *** [Makefile:77: install] Error 13

Couldn't install Module::Build, giving up.

Please update pkgrel=2 to trigger recompiling against perl 5.26. Thank you.
