Great! You'll probably want to use the same extension though. Notice you used .tar.gz instead of .tar.bz2

Yep, just ran into that issue. Updated the package, future versions won't conflict with cached versions.

You should use a unique filename for each version, otherwhise it will find and use the previously cached file and will fail the checksum check. Something like:

source=("${pkgname}-${pkgver}.tar.bz2::${url}/releases/download/v${pkgver}/${pkgname}-variants.tar.bz2")
