The tag for a -git package is send-email meaningless. It will update. Some update .SRCINFO for major point releases, but it is not necessary.

No, you don't. See your AUR handler for how to facilitate this. It is why -git packages exists. For example,pacaur will just fetch the latest git source as "latest" and build Everytime. I used to think that way too, but after some talks with another maintainer, I understood how it worked.

I think you need to run mksrcinfo to update the package on AUR

This is a git package, it is not out of date. Every time you update it pulls the latest sources.

Changes are still merged into POL4, the mainline package was last updated 2016-01-10. "Latest commit 31b7177 13 days ago"
