Hi, I'm not sure who is responsible for the /usr/bin/playonlinux5 executable (upstream or maintainer), but I've found an issue with the Java version check "archlinux-java get | cut -d "-" -f2". I use JetBrains Java from aur, since they have some font rendering fixes ( and this Java does not have JavaFX. The script should force proper Java, but because JetBrains Java name is similar to the OpenJDK Java it fails.
"Available Java environments:
java-8-openjdk-jetbrains (default)"
I've fixed it by commenting out the if and so always forcing the proper java path, but maybe this could get a proper fix.

@jeekiii I had the same problem and I managed to solve it following the answer given in this link:

Ok I see the issue. Update again and try once more. I believe I found a workaround.

You will have to give me some steps to reproduce, the launcher "" also shows this behavior to be correct when java-7-openjdk is set as default:

# Allow either openjdk java or Oracle java to be used

if (( $(archlinux-java get | cut -d "-" -f2) < 8 )); then
export PATH=$(ls -d /usr/lib/jvm/java-{8,9}-* 2>/dev/null | head -1):$PATH

# Start PlayOnLinux
java -classpath "$CLASSPATH" org.phoenicis.javafx.JavaFXApplication "$@"
[mikeyd@archboxmtd playonlinux5-git]$ archlinux-java get | cut -d "-" -f2
[mikeyd@archboxmtd playonlinux5-git]$ tmp=$(ls -d /usr/lib/jvm/java-{8,9}-* 2>/dev/null | head -1)
[mikeyd@archboxmtd playonlinux5-git]$ echo $tmp

@WizardOfTheWest, I've been trying to make people happy on this one. Let me look again. If it isn't Java 8, it's "I want Oracle JDK, not OpenJDK." Are you saying it doesn't work when building or when running? I can confirm building works fine for me when java-7-openjdk works for me.

WizardOfTheWest commented on 2017-05-31 16:05

Doesn't work when default java is set to java-7-openjdk

Gives the error:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: org/phoenicis/javafx/JavaFXApplication : Unsupported major.minor version 52.0

Had to manually switch to java-8 via:
sudo archlinux-java set java-8-openjdk

Alright, I can confirm at least pacaur can install the package, so it seems that test error is at least contained to virtual/vm/chroot-like builds. I'll still see if that can be overcomed.

ProfessorKaos64 commented on 2017-05-22 01:16

Ok, so it seems tests fail it is is built with makechrootpkg -r $CHROOT, but not with makepkg -c. The graphics pipeline test doesn't appear to test ok outside of a chroot. Still tinkering to see if I can help that.

Working through some test failures. Thank you for your patience.

Thank you for the comment. I'll add it to the deps soon.
