I have the same issue that @aonsao and @chamber are.
It's not that there isn't video, it's that it's stuck on the first frame. There must be some sort of frame issue, as once I toggle full screen it updates to the new frame. Plus when the overlay menu minimizes it still shows a ghost of it on the screen.

@kRYOoX Fair point - in my case, I don't believe Ulauncher supports "actions". Regardless, my workaround is sufficient for my needs. :)

@Kage-Yami: While I agree that the default action is arguably not the most desirable, this is something that should rather be brought up in an issue in the upstream repo.
The .desktop file still has actions that allow you to pick a certain launch method. Your launcher of choice should be able to pick that up and present the options to you somehow.
For instance with rofi, add
rofi.drun-show-actions: true
to the config file or-drun-show-actions
in the CLI arguments and rofi will show those actions. Once you have that, selecting theDesktop [Windowed]
action instead of the default one will open plex the way you want it.Kage-Yami commented on 2020-01-18 11:09 (UTC)
I realise that this goes against what someone else said in the past... but I personally find the
.desktop
file that was included in the AUR package preferable to the one in the upstream repository. The upstream repository
.desktop
file forcibly starts the application in Fullscreen + TV mode every time you start the application - this is frustrating for a standard desktop environment. As I understand it, with the old
.desktop
file that has since been removed, it would remember the last used setting - so those who want it to start in Fullscreen + TV can set that in Plex and it will be remembered the next time.(I'm currently working around this with a hook executing
sed
to remove all references to--fullscreen
and--tv
from the.desktop
file after every install/update.)moita commented on 2020-01-17 05:14 (UTC)
I was able to build qt5-5.9.5 packages and then applying cian1500ww`s PKGBUILD changes PMP is working again.

@cian1500ww, you saved the day! I did had to add the environment variables QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=0 and QT_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTORS=1 to my .desktop. Otherwise the scaling of Plex was all wrong.

Haven't test 5.13 tbh, main reason I created a separate 5.9.5 package was to avoid having to hold back the system Qt in case other packages require a newer version of it.

@cian1500ww, thanks for your effort! I tested your packages, and can acknowledge they work as expected. I only had to reverse the QT patch that got just added because of QT 5.14 (but that version has runtimes errors). But I could not recognize any improvements to using QT 5.13 (downgrade + ignore), have you?

@jhenson Thanks, I've already got new packages for 5.9.5 done: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/?K=qt5+595 I don't think those packages you've linked will compile on an up-to-date install of Arch. I had to source numerous patches to get webengine to compile.
I've rebuilt this package against my QT 5.9.5 packages and can confirm it's resolved all the UI issues that I was having. A patch file with the required changes for the plex-media-player PKGBUILD is here: https://paste.debian.net/1125528/ if anyone wants to give it a try. My QT 5.9.5 install is stored in /opt/qt595 and is kept separate from the system version.
qt5-webengine-595 is a very long compile (almost 2 hours on my system) so I'm in the process of doing a clean build from my Github repo (https://github.com/cianmcgovern/archlinux-qt-5.9.5) and I'll share the resulting binary packages shortly.
EDIT: Packages are built and available on Github now: https://github.com/cianmcgovern/archlinux-qt-5.9.5/releases/tag/10-JAN-2020
