This is possibly missing a dependency, xdg-user-dirs. I am unable to play anything with the error "[W] Network request failed for metadata, trying cache ERROR: MissingPlatformDirectoryException(Unable to get application documents directory)", which led me to https://github.com/flutter/gallery/issues/979#issuecomment-1693361972 which has solved this issue for me.
