@mattoufoutu: Yes, I am purposely using the bundled JDK as it includes optimizations made by Jetbrains for running their software.

mattoufoutu commented on 2016-03-11 21:27

are you using the version with bundled JDK on purpose? wouldn't it make more sense to rely on the system's one instead of potentially having the files twice on the filesystem?

intgr commented on 2015-12-09 13:04

For anyone having problems with the "403 Forbidden" error, see this issue reported upstream: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/PY-17910

intgr commented on 2015-11-19 09:53

Please change the "url" to https://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/PYH/JetBrains+PyCharm+Preview+%28EAP%29 , so it's easier to check what's the most recent EAP release.

EisenSheng commented on 2015-11-14 16:08

The pycharm-eap.desktop file is broken. It points to

/opt/pycharm-pro-eap/bin/pycharm.sh

but the package is installed under

/opt/pycharm-eap/bin/pycharm.sh

intgr commented on 2015-11-12 10:43

Download fails... It's trying to download pycharm-professional-5.1.tar.gz, because "pycharm-professional-${_pkgver/.0}.tar.gz" in sources=() replaces 5.0.1 to 5.1.

Would be nice if you could change the source url to be https instead of http.

lots0logs commented on 2015-11-03 11:16

The PKGBUILD has been updated with the correct source URL's. Note, if you changed the _pkgver variable to 5.0 as a quick fix, you won't get notified for updates anymore. I recommend reinstalling with the updated PKGBUILD (which pacman will think is a downgrade, btw).

intgr commented on 2015-11-03 08:47

The solution is simple enough, just change the _pkgver line to: _pkgver=5.0

@FTC56: No problem here again. This must be an issue with your own machine or network. Maybe you have some proxy blocking or changing the contents of the HTTP response, etc. Have a look at what's inside the downloaded file. Try downloading it from some other network connection and compare them.

I had to change _pkgver to _buildver in a few places to fix this:

By the way, the build() function shouldn't touch $pkgdir at all. You should do that in the package() step.

This package is for those, who want both stable (provided by community/pycharm) and EAP releases on their systems, without duplicating and redundant updates for this package, when stable release comes out

It didn't get added to my applications in gnome, had to start it by going to /opt/pycharms-eapd/bin/pycharm.sh

Don't know if this is expected, but would be nice if it would integrate with gnome 3 like other apps.

@Ericssony The stable version of PyCharm is packaged in AUR as 'pycharm', while this 'pycharm-eap' package is for EAP releases only.

The package should probably depend on 'java-environment' rather than 'jdk'. This would allow to use 'jdk6' instead of 'jdk', which currently provides Java 7. (the same change was done for https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=39286 )

In case anyone is getting:

Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not find agent library yjpagent on the library path, with error: libyjpagent.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32 (Possible cause: architecture word width mismatch)

Update your pycharm.vmoptions file:
Change: -agentlib:yjpagent=
To: -agentlib:yjpagent64=
