Does not build, error in prepare() :

@jc-aur: Use python2, instead python (3) or change shebang to python2.

noel commented on 2017-08-01 21:32

try `python2 install_remove.py`. BTW your question is not related to this install script for Arch Linux.

jc-aur commented on 2017-08-01 21:22

whenever I try to run the install_remove.py file, I get the following error:

File "./install_remove.py", line 28
print "\nUsage of this script:"
^
SyntaxError: Missing parentheses in call to 'print'

Any idea how to fix this? I have 0 knowledge on python

I changed it to https, i thought this would lead to username and password challenges, but no. now it should work even, if you didn't deploy your ssh key. Thanks, for the feedback :)

Thanks for the update but there are 2 problems.

1. github URL

> Cloning into 'pyExifToolGUI'...
> Permission denied (publickey).
> fatal: Could not read from remote repository.
>
> Please make sure you have the correct access rights
> and the repository exists.

According to <http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2643502/git-permission-denied-publickey>:

| In a word, if your intent is to clone-only a repo, use HTTPS URL
|(https://github.com/{user_name}/{project_name}.git) instead of SSH
| URL(git@github.com:{user_name}/{project_name}.git), which avoids
| (unnecessary) public key validation.

doing

> $ git clone --depth 1 --single-branch https://github.com/hvdwolf/pyExifToolGUI.git

on the CL works, pasting it directly into the PKGBUILD works as a dirty fix.

2. The above creates its build tree in $srcdir/pyExifToolGUI and not $srcdir/pyexiftoolgui.
