This is still an issue with the current version.
python-blackis definitely not a runtime dependency and building also succeeds without it. I think it's only required by the stylecheck workflow on GitHub.gwuensch commented on 2025-09-21 20:07 (UTC)
python-black seems to be an (optional) build dependency only, see pyproject.toml.
