That's right, I forgot that Python packages need their tarballs from PyPI, not GitHub.

You can use this in your PKGBUILD if you'd like, then:

source=("https://files.pythonhosted.org/packages/source/${_pkgname::1}/$_pkgname/$_pkgname-$pkgver.tar.gz")

I just tested this and it compiles in a clean chroot. With this you don't need git.

@lmartinez-mirror: Add git as a make dependency. I did try the tarball before when I was initially making the PKGBUILD for this, but it failed because it was missing a file (don't remember which).

This package requires git in its makedepends; alternatively, you could use the tarballs posted under tags on GitHub, like this one.
