Experiencing similar problems. Ran a clean build with pytest -v and it's stalling on this test:

tests/test_mpv.py::TestLifecycle::test_wait_for_prooperty_event_overflow

I'm not the same user who reported being unable to upgrade but I have the same problem (I haven't updated aur packages in quite some time). Cleanbuilding a second time doesn't seem to help, same error, seems related to an AttributeError. Here last lines displayed:

File "/usr/lib/python3.10/site-packages/py/init.py", line 29, in <module> apipkg.initpkg(name, attr={'_apipkg': apipkg, 'error': error}, exportdefs={ AttributeError: module 'apipkg' has no attribute 'initpkg' ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in check(). Aborting... -> error making: python-mpv

Have you tried building more than once? Works for me every time, building in a clean chroot.

If you add -v to pytest, you could perhaps provide more details.

This package do not upgrade anymore, it stays stucked when running the tests during the build process.

This must conflict with python-pympv and python-pympv-git, too!

All use: import mpv
