I think you should go back to version 2.12.1 because there are changes in version 3.0.0 that break all packages that depend on it. Version 2 is expected here.

In the meantime, upstream has renamed this package from PyPDF2 to pypdf https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/issues/1488. The current version v3 should be distributed in a different package.

Yes sorry guys. I had already added python-flit-core to the makedepends but as kseistrup points out I accidentally did not push the .SRCINFO change. Fixed now with 2.11.2-2.

It has been added, but it seems that it hasn't made it to the .SRCINFO file so makepkg doesn't know.

If you encounter that you cannot install/update this package due to unmet dependencies, just install python-flit-core from community. However, this should be added to PKGBUILD as (dev-)dependency by @bulletmark.

@loathingkernel, I thought /startdir was odd but assumed that was a personal choice where you build AUR packages so it is not a "dead giveaway". Note the last section on the paru home page.
