I believe aur/python-speechrecognition works fine with the -deadlib package based on my limited testing

You can test this yourself:
Create package with random pkgbase, for example
python-testqwerty
Set pkgname to already existing package, for example
python-standard-aifc
When trying to push you will get error.

Probably to do with the dependency resolver, though my search yielded no results.
Alright, when we agree on the split package PKGBUILD, I'll allow the removal of this package. Until then, it stays.
Perhaps, as an intermediate step, we could remove
chunk
andaifc
from the modules and add them when this package (and its relative) have been removed.micwoj92 commented on 2024-12-29 11:06 (UTC)
The issue is also with AUR. There can't be this
python-standard-aifc
package andpython-standard-aifc
from split packaging of https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/python-deadlib at the same time.Vekhir commented on 2024-12-29 10:46 (UTC)
I still don't see why this package needs to be removed. The only reason I see is the pkgname, though noone requires you to add both to a binary repo? I can't follow your reasoning.
As it stands, I will not remove this PKGBUILD until a viable replacement is available. My responsibility is for
subtitld
and to break it knowingly requires a clear path forward with minimal downtime (ideally 0) and absolute necessity for a better outcome.I'm willing to work with you, but I don't understand the urgency.

no worries thanks Vekhir ;)

I'm not getting paid enough for this... ;)
You don't need to update
python-speechrecognition
. You'd only need that if you were on actual Arch with Python 3.13.As a kind hint for the future, please go to the Manjaro forums for your issues before you write a comment here, they know your system better than I (or many other Arch users). I consider this issue solved.

yes on manjaro. I rarely get problems updating packages via pamac because the process is 99% of the time smooth when we update a package but this one is not easy to solve. But thank you for the reading given, I wondered if the pb comes not from the fact that I am in python version 3.12.7 and not in 3.13 (but 3.13 is not yet available on pamac officially so I continue to learn :)
I guess my pb is somewhere in there, the audioop github repo, in audioop.c file, line 1984 => https://github.com/AbstractUmbra/audioop/blob/main/audioop/_audioop.c
but i don't udnerstand why Pamac can't build it ...
