@ImNtReal - error when launching program from .desktop file:

Failed to execute child process “Qtcam” (No such file or directory)

qtchooser is not needed to build this package.

I've switched to alexzk's fork. It will require a downgrade to get to the correct version if you currently have it installed.

made a fork with plenty fixes just to be able to compile on fresh arch

there is pkgbuild there too.

Hi, I disowned the package. You can take if you want.

Yep, that's why I proposed editing the PKGBUILD and forcing the value of 7 (the default), this way even if config is edited it will use a length of 7.
just replace --short with --short=7

dracorp commented on 2016-02-29 22:23

But everyone could use modified settings for git. Maybe is way always to use system config.

LeonardK commented on 2016-02-28 11:09

Then I'd recommend using --short=7 (or whatever you want) in the pkgver() as the value of 8 is not the default and cannot be expected to be used on other's PCs.
This way it only triggers unwanted rebuilds

$ git config --global core.abbrev

Well, that's weird -- for me it's one digit less. And according to git documentation, mine is correct:

Instead of outputting the full SHA-1 values of object names try to abbreviate them to a shorter unique name. When no length is specified 7 is used. The minimum length is 4.

yours is giving 8 digits for some reason -- but it's not standard O.o
