The md5 checksum for 0.10.7 in the PKGBUILD needs an update.

Could you please adjust the download source and give the downloaded package an unique name? This will help people which use SRCDEST
This can be achived by adding ${pkgname}-${pkgver}.tar.gz:: in front of the download url.

Thanks in advance

Could you at least add those as optional dependencies?

python-dbus
python-dateutil
python-iwlib
python-keyring

Some people don't need the widgets depending on those packages, but others may wonder why they don't show up on the bar.

And re: "Have you even tried reproducing this error?", I installed qtile with a minimal set of dependencies in a chroot, with x11vnc+xvfb as X server and it works. http://dump.dequis.org/eYOIm.png

@dvzrv: Okay, calm down, no need for personal attacks. I'm not saying you're making this stuff up. Speaking as one of the qtile devs, those are not required dependencies and shouldn't be, so if something is breaking because they are missing it's clearly a qtile bug, not a problem with this particular package. Please, let's handle this issue in the correct place, the bug tracker.

@dvzrv Sorry the delay answering, i had some busy days.. about the error, that dependencies are optional for some widgets, i can confirm that, because i'm the one who implemented "safe_import". Could you please open an issue on qtile's github?

dvzrv commented on 2016-06-04 11:07

@dequis: Yes sure, the below mentioned include errors, when the referenced dependencies are not installed must be pure hallucinations. Same counts for them dissappearing after the installation of said dependencies, that are referenced IN CODE?!

Have you even tried reproducing this error? I have done so on two separate systems.
So no, I guess nothing is broken with my system(s), but with the dependencies of this package.

@RogerDuran: If as maintainer you feel that you don't want to be forced to add further dependencies, that others are so polite to point out for you, report this upstream yourself and make them change the code for you (if that's possible in this case) or request what to do, instead of breaking other user's systems by neglect.
Not answering to a request or the pointing out of a problem is not very polite or future compatible.

@dvzrv: Something is seriously broken with your system and it's highly likely that those dependencies are red herrings. You should open an issue in the qtile tracker, or send an email to the mailing list, or talk on irc about it. This is clearly more than just a simple packaging issue.

dvzrv commented on 2016-06-03 13:03

@RogerDuran: Can you please add python-mpd2, python-keyrings-alt and python-iwlib to depends? Without them standard configurations using the builtin themes WILL break and WILL lead to system instability (including hard reset of machine).
