Sorry about the delay. So I'm not sure why you had trouble with later versions, but I've grabbed the latest commit from his github and it seems to work fine on my system. I think I fixed it and brought it up to date, however if you're still having problems, just let me know and I'll try again.

If you absolutely intend to pull the version refered to in the PKGBUILD, line 17 should be
source=("https://codeload.github.com/pinard/Recode/legacy.tar.gz/2fd8385658e5a08700e3b916053f6680ff85fdbd")
I've had a hard time getting later versions to compile, by the way

Alright, hopefully that fixed everything.

Also, using a package function is highly recommended now.

Broken...
==> ERROR: pkgrel must be a decimal.
pkgrel = beta2
is a no-no

The reason I haven't structured it like a git-based build is because I cannot get it to compile for some reason manually. All I know is that it works this way. If you or someone else can figure out what is going wrong, I'll gladly change it to reflect that.

This package is based on a Git repository, surely it should be structured like a Git-based build?
Right now the package is broken because there has been a new revision pushed out.

I've changed the source location. Thanks.

There's a problem when downloading the sources. No file available from the FTP server at gnu.org. The sources reside now here:
