The specific git commit to me appears the only way to get the stable version of this package (being a git repository, getting the latest commit doesn't guarantee the code is in a working state). I couldn't find tarballs or some other pre-packaged source files, and unfortunately the version number is hardcoded in "setup.py" (no git tag); so the only way to get the 1.3 version was to get a specific commit. Of course, anyone can flag the package as out of date.
I bumped the package to version 1.4.

robcat, thanks for the PKGBUILD, but why does it checks out a specific git commit?
And namcap shows this warning:
regetron W: Description should not contain the package name.
