Hi,

loading and scrolling through folders is very slow. Rodent becomes unusable, if folders have lots of items. I needed to replace rodent with spacefm and roxterm.

On Ubuntu I still use rodent 5.0.5 and it works without issues.

It already was slow, when I build it a few month ago.

$ pacman -Q rodent librfm5 desktop-file-utils python2
rodent 5.3.16.0-1
librfm5 5.3.16.0-1
desktop-file-utils 0.22-1
python2 2.7.10-2
$ pacman -Qi rodent | grep Build
Build Date : Thu 28 May 2015 02:10:13 PM CEST

Am I the only one experiencing this issue?

Regards,
Ralf

I have the same issiue like discribed here:
http://sourceforge.net/p/xffm/bugs/66/?page=0

I don't know if it's now a GTK3 issue or an incompatibility with some libs.

@bidulock I took the liberty of updating with your PKGBUILD and install script, then disown the package again. I hope this is ok - I don't mean to take any credit for your work.
:-)

@bidulock If you'd like to update with your PKGBUILD I've disowned the package

bidulock commented on 2014-05-24 06:34

Just execute 'rodent'.

Following is a PKGBUILD and rodent.install file for a 5.2.8 build.

fyi: installs some kind of desktop environment.
it does include a file manager, but i have not figured how to launch it seperately.

fyi: installs some kind of desktop environment.
launching "rodent" does not launch a file manager.

Was using chrpath to fix a weird RPATH issue in a previous version. Should be fixed now, any other issues let me know.

rtfreedman commented on 2013-05-22 01:06

RTFM.pdf is installed to '/usr/share/doc/@RC_DIR@/'
Change '$(datadir)/doc/@RC_DIR@' to eg. '$(datadir)/doc/@PACKAGE_NAME@' in Build/share/Makefile.in
chrpath is not needed - use:
'./configure --prefix=/usr' and 'make install DESTDIR="$pkgdir"'

Updated to 5.0.3

@edscott Thanks for the heads-up.

Rodent-5.0.3 is out. This is the most stable and complete version of Rodent.
download from http://sourceforge.net/projects/xffm/files/5.0.3/rodent-5.0.3.tar.bz2/download

Enjoy!

With the new version, I just can't make it to compile and install, I will disown it so someone else can make it work

vladimir1922 commented on 2013-02-06 21:15

I am back. Tried to update the script, but it won't compile.

There is not an obvious error message to debug. The closest to that is:

rm -f missing notexist
srcdir=. /usr/bin/intltool-update -m
The following files contain translations and are currently not in use. Please
consider adding these to the POTFILES.in file, located in the po/ directory.

libs/rfm/modules/mimemagic.c
libs/rfm/modules/xmltree.c
libs/rfm/primary/primary-layout.c

(sounds more like a warning). I am trying to sort it out. If you can, and you are happy to become maintainer, I will be happy to transfer that duty

Anntoin commented on 2013-02-03 15:54

Version 4.9.2 is out. As you're not using Arch anymore if you are looking for someone else to maintain this package I'd be happy to.

vladimir1922 commented on 2012-07-13 01:50

Updated at last. Sorry for the delay, I am not using Arch anymore, and setting up a virtual wasn't as easy as expected. I also updated some dependencies

Anonymous comment on 2012-06-27 22:15

Rodent 4.8.0 has now been released (http://sourceforge.net/projects/xffm/files/4.8.0/) If you choose to compile with --enable-experimental, you will get several extra plugins which are "almost" done.

Enjoy!

vladimir1922 commented on 2011-11-02 00:14

Cleaned dependencies and upgraded.
¡Thanks for check new versions so fast!

4.7.4 http://sourceforge.net/projects/xffm/files/4.7.4/rodent-4.7.4.tar.bz2/download

On archlinux test-4.7.3 will not work if the hicolor icontheme is not installed (this is a freedesktop.org thing).
test2-4.7.3 will work fine if no other icontheme is installed (this is the way it should be) and I have not problems
on my Archlinux box.

So if you segfault on startup and do not have /usr/share/icons/hicolor/,
please check against http://xffm.foo-projects.org/tests/test2-rodent-4.7.3.tar.bz2

Thanks!

vladimir1922 commented on 2011-10-09 09:57

Ok, as I personally didn't had any problems I can't check, so please caxap, confirm if it is fine now. Edscot seems to have fixed it now, in pkagbuild i've commented the last source link, and hard-coded it (which is ugly) because it is a temporally source. Thanks, and cheers

A couple of segfaults in 4.7.0 and 4.7.1 and 4.7.2 have been fixed. One would happen on startup and the other one when you right click twice.

If you have time, please check 4.7.3 release candidate. Bug may have been fixed.

Release candidate is temporarily available at:

http://xffm.foo-projects.org/tests/test-rodent-4.7.3.tar.bz2

Thank you!

vladimir1922 commented on 2011-09-28 22:40

try to recompile. The first right click pops up a menu, the second one re-pops up. It is not supposed to exit!

caxap commented on 2011-09-28 17:36

Two sequential right clicks in window close the aplication. Is that right?

I have serious issues with my Arch box,i will try tomorrow to fix them to a useable state, so i can update the package

vladimir1922 commented on 2011-05-18 11:18

Corrected again the dependencies stuff (deleted recurrent ones, added intltool). Thanks!

Anonymous comment on 2011-05-18 07:40

Install needed intltool, which is not listed in dependencies.

Anonymous comment on 2011-05-17 17:42

Nice looking file manager, Just a note about the dependencies, it's not necessary to list all of them like that, for instance gtk2 will pull in pixbuf-gdk2, which will pull in libpng etc. Also glibc is in base so doesn't _need_ to be listed, but can be if you want.

vladimir1922 commented on 2011-05-17 14:26

Updated PKGBUILD, and corrected dependencies. If it doesn't work mounting an ISO, then try #ln -s /usr/bin/redent-getpass /usr/local/bin/rodent-getpass. It looks at start in this directory, but doesn't install the symlink, so it is necesary to do it manually. Anyway, it can be also corrected in the options menu in rodent
