Unfortunately I'm dealing with permissions issues. I know the user expected changed to 'roon', but Roon cannot see files besides system files since the most recent update. An example being my files are mounted through /run/media: Anything after this structure, like the name of my username, doesn't get seen by Roon and returns an "Unauthorized" error when selecting a mount point for music through Roon. For me, the reckless solution is giving the entire system read and write rights to the /run/media/{username} folder, but I'd like to figure out a fixed solution to this that doesn't give such insecure access to that entire folder. Should I be mounting using fstab, or is there anything I'm missing?

That resolved the issue. Thanks so much.

Maybe you have enabled also roonbridge? You should not on the server.

Roon works perfectly on my setup except for one small thing. I can play music to any device except the PC which acts as both server and client. The PC has an Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero motherboard using the RealTek ACL1220 chip for onboard 5.1 sound. Sound works for every single occasion except Roon. I'm pretty sure it's the RealTek chips. Ideas?

Yes, it costs 9.99 $ with a yearly payment or 12.99 with a monthly payment
I am not affiliated or connected in any way with roonlabs...

Hello, I was debating replacing LMS with Roon to control my squeeze devices. Is there a monthly fee to use Roon Server? Thanks, Anderson

You could try to add a delay to roon systemd service.
For example you could add 30s or more
ExecStartPre=/bin/sleep 30
under [Service] section in /usr/lib/systemd/system/roonserver.service
If this is working you can copy the edited service to /etc
sudo cp /usr/lib/systemd/system/roonserver.service /etc/systemd/system/roonserver.service
so that this change will stay also after updates

You are right, it was something else. Sometimes roon does not find the alsa endpoints and does not work; then when it finds the alsa endpoints I have to close down everything else that might produce sound & rescan for devices... which makes my keyboard & mouse freeze (I have to unplug and plug them back in). Overall this does not result in a great experience.

I think that the problem is elsewhere, since in this last version, there is not a roon user and the application has root rights.
