To all having an issue with this driver: please try https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/rtl88xxau-aircrack-dkms-git alternatively.

@capoeira: it is a 8811au. You should use rtl8821au-dkms-git as explained in the documentation. 8811au is only supported by driver v5.1.5. This package uses v5.2.9, only for 8812au at the moment.

@bhrgovlh this is my vendor id, though my antena looks totaly diferent than the picture: https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Edimax_EW-7811UTC_7392_A812 because of this I always thought my device is 8812au. However, I have big problems with it since that kernel problem started. Guess I'll buy a new antenna

@thelinuxguy @zebulon Ok, well deserved RTFM, my bad :-)

@capoeira If rtl8821au-dkms-git works for you, that means the chipset of your wireless adapter is probably RTL8811AU or RTL8821AU. I believe that the name shown in dmesg is determined in Makefile: ifneq ($(CONFIG_RTL8812A)_$(CONFIG_RTL8821A), n_n) RTL871X = rtl8812a ifeq ($(CONFIG_USB_HCI), y) MODULE_NAME = 8812au endif If you have the Vendor ID and Product ID of your wireless adapter, you may search WikiDevi to see if you can find out the chipset used.

it's strange. this driver wont be started when I plug in my antena, when I install rtl8821au-dkms-git it will work, BUT 8812 should be my driver since DMESG says: [ 8678.390893] usbcore: registered new interface driver 8812au

That's right, you never put any package that is in base-devel as a makedependency. Otherwise you would need to add gcc, etc... Linux-headers was debatable, but the policy is that since there are several versions of the kernel, they can only be an optdependency (here, inherited from dkms dependency).

@lacouture I'm going to be the bad boy here and tell you to RTFM. fakeroot is in base-devel which you HAVE to install if you want to do anything in aur...

Hi. This package fails to compile if fakeroot is missing. You might want to add fakeroot to the makedepends list. Thanks for maintaining this packet.

I have now uploaded a new version, which respects the git guidelines. pkgver incorporates now the git HEAD revision. Regarding the makedepends: only git and bc. linux-headers are not anymore a makedepends, only an optdepends inherited from dkms. A dkms user is supposed to know he needs linux headers.

I have enquired in the forums, and it seems that there is something wrong with the packaging and headers dependency (not with the drivers, they work fine): there is a build section, whereas for a dkms driver, it should only install the source files in the dkms tree and let the building responsibility to dkms... dkms alread has the headers as optdepends (note: optdepends, not makedepends) and that it is the repsonsibility of the dkms user to have his proper kernel source installed. I may need to cleanup the package soon to align it with the proper dkms guidance.
