The PKGBUILD for the mentioned improved wide glyph handling is up:

It needs cleanup and testing, but I consider it to be working quite good already.
I will write to the rxvt-unicode mailinglist soonish, but have no high hopes that it gets accepted like that, since it uses an extra socket and `LD_PRELOAD`.

The PKGBUILD is built on this one, but without font-width-fix.patch, which I also consider to be wrong (there is a comment about it in there).

Well, I will follow up. Also looking forward to new patches.
And thanks for quick reply.

We tried to debug this in, but unfortunately I cannot reproduce it myself. You should follow up there probably.

btw: I am cooking another patch in this regard, which is less of a hack in some sense, but more altogether: it injects a LD_PRELOAD for wcwidth/wcswidth and uses that to ask the rxvt-unicode process about the width of a char. Maybe I get back to it on the weekend.

I use vim and airline plugin with glyph icons. That's why I enabled wide-glyph patch from PKGBUILD.
After some upgrade of vim (v8.0 patch), when I launch vim, urxvt crashes with this message;

segmentation fault (core dumped) urxvt

When I disable glyph icons of airline plugin, problem is gone. Also when I remove wide-glyph patch and rebuild urxvt, again problem is gone but I need that patch. Is there any way to solve it?

This package doesn't seem to accept the 256 colors of xresources

@turtil can you explain what that patch changes exactly? Was it ever submitted upstream somewhere? "draw text in middle of line, not on top" isn't really helpful ;)

Can we include this too please?

Can confirm it works locally here with this included.

Would you mind removing the `--disable-pixbuf` option? So that urxvt would link against it if it's installed.

The-Compiler commented on 2016-06-06 16:16

I bumped the pkgrel to force a rebuild.
