I have a problem executing it: i just get a black screen, sound works and my pointer is free to move where i want. I got this message from the console $ savage2 warning: The VAD has been replaced by a hack pending a complete rewrite can anyone help me?

it seems there's a workaround for the infinite update problem, edit ~/.savage2/game/startup.cfg change: SetSave upd_checkForUpdates "false" *solution from forums.savage2.com

Hi, if I run savage2 as regular user, everytime I want to login the game says "Unable to write to game". If I run "sudo savage2", the game would check and download the update -> "your version 2.1.0.1, new version 2.1.0.2" but after the download finished, the game would just restart, check and download the same update, as if the update wasn't applied.

Thanks for the update. Drop me a line if there are any problems.

I am uploading to my own Server at the moment: http://188.40.92.72/Savage2Install-2.1.0.1-i686.bin (already uploaded) and http://188.40.92.72/Savage2Install-2.1.0.1-x86_64.bin (yet to be uploaded) Can the maintainer of this PKGBUILD include these locations to the download? (Not sure how many traffic this will be but i will do my best to provide this mirror for longer.

I'm not sure. It must be doing it's own check as to whether or not it's writable. If I run it at root, it works. Maybe it just looks at the directory owner?
