I am going to leave this comment here as I run into trouble with setting up scangear for my Canon Pixma MG4250 scanner at every new Linux installation: During the build process there occurred an error because of the absence of libgimp/gimpcompat.h and the installation failed. Therefore I disabled the line "#include <libgimp/gimpcompat.h>" in the file src/scangearmp-source-2.00-1/scangearmp/src/scangimp.c in the downloaded source package, updated the md5sum in PKGBUILD and installed with makepkg -si. For better understanding you can check the gimp2.9.patch in the AUR-package scangearmp-mg3200.

Notification for people who prefer to use simple-scan instead: In case the scanner is not detected via wifi out of the box, you have to uncomment or add the entry "pixma" in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf and add the printer's ip-address in the format "bjnp://000.000.0.000" (e.g. bjnp://192.168.1.123) to /etc/sane.d/pixma.conf

Test if scanner is detected with "scanimage -L" --> reboot --> should work

My scanner works now fine via WiFi.

Dunno why I'm still getting notified on this, but just FYI: I no longer own any compatible devices to test this, that's why I've disowned it for someone interested to take over.

Funktioniert nicht bei meinem MG4250.

Habe jetzt simple-scan-git installiert und funktioniert.

Huh, how did I even miss that? Should be working now.

Hello! This package fails to build because it lacks a package() function, could you fix it? Thank you very much
