@galaux: very strange, md5sum matches perfectly on my system..
Comment by Scotty
Please make sure you are connected with the internet. At first start the program checks for updates. Those checkes can be disabled in configuration, but unfortunately only after first start.
Comment by galaux
New version out. md5sums don't match anymore.
FYI I cannot run it anymore. Scrabble starts but just displays a blank window. No error message. Version 25 as well. Version 23 works.

@jose1711: It's not that easy to build for Qt 32bit as expected (linker issues). Let's keep the game depending on Gtk2.
Comment by jose1711
@Scotty: well.. i have no easy way to test non-32bit binary on my system. but the pkgbuild itself is no big deal..
Comment by Scotty
@jose1711: Do you think 32bit is necessary? It would be easy to compile for but I want to avoid packaging effort.
Comment by jose1711
@Scotty: ah, ok. will you be also planning qscrabble for 32bit linux?
Comment by Scotty
There is another version build against Qt framework. I named the package QScrabble but it contains Scrabble3D as well.
Comment by jose1711
@Scotty: what do you mean? gtk2 dependency has been detected by namcap - are you saying it will work without it? jose
Comment by Scotty
Wouldn't it be good to make Qt available as alternative to Gtk2?
Comment by galaux
Orphaned.
Comment by jose1711
@galaux: yes, i will try. feel free to orphan. thank you, jose
Comment by galaux
I have very few time left for this one and I don't use the soft anymore. Would you like to maintain it?
Comment by jose1711
are you going to update the package?

No need to hury about licence. I plan to switch back to GPL since CC NC3 doesn't fit software.
Comment by jose1711
please also fix the license. wiki says it's Creative Commons, Noncommercial, not GPL.
Comment by Scotty
@galaux: I'm the developer, unfortunately the only one. I was creating the deb, rpm and msi packages, apparently with insufficient quality. I'm glad to get any help.
Comment by galaux
@Scotty: would you happen to be a dev if this app? If so, interested in maintaining this Arch package?
Comment by Scotty
Program is written in Freepascal with traget Gtk2 (Qt is in preparation); therefore the usual way to compile is not available.
Range check error might be related to multithreading, it seldom occurs for me. You can switch off that option.
Please report bugs in the formum linked at About or at Sourceforge.net. I'm open for all kinds of packaging.
Comment by galaux
There was a new version: that's why. Up to date. Thanks.

> I'm going to say the problems are upstream.
Yes, as you saw this package is just an extract of the already compiled bin so this looks like upstream.
> Long story short, I don't think Scrabble3D was written with tiling WMs in mind. :/
:)
> Also, I find it very strange they do not list dependencies in the deb
Not an official Debian package so...
Comment by fsckd
Sorry, I should have mentioned, I'm using i686 and WM is XMonad.
I just tried some stuff. I was able to start a new game and download a dictionary. I was also able to turn on debugging but I do not know where the output is sent.
The main issue seem to be a "Range check error". Frozen ui sometimes has maximum CPU usage. When I tried to exit the program, the ui froze and no abnormal CPU usage. There are other issues as well, too numerous to list. Long story short, I don't think Scrabble3D was written with tiling WMs in mind. :/
The "Range check error" does not guarantee a crash. The output in the terminal is usually the same as in my first post below and sometimes less. An error window appears with two options, 'OK' and 'Cancel'. The window has the following message contents:
Range check error.
Press OK to ignore and risk data corruption.
Press Cancel to kill the program.
Tile movement is very weird and the game is effectively unplayable. I'll have to try more stuff and see if this can work with a tiling WM.
Anyways, thanks for trying. I'm going to say the problems are upstream. :-) (Also, I find it very strange they do not list dependencies in the deb.)
Comment by galaux
Hum, just fixed an issue in the PKGBUILD that built the 64 version every time no matter what your CARCH is.
Comment by galaux
May I ask which architecture and DE/WM you use?
Any other output?
I see there is a "Show debug" option that you should be able to trigger in file $HOME/.config/Scrabble3D/Scrabble3D.ini: "cbDebug=1". Any luck with that?

It fixes that issue but now the ui freezes while the process maxes CPU usage. I guess that's an improvement. :-)
Comment by galaux
Updated to version "3.1.0 patch 23" but can't say whether this would fix your issue... :)
