It seems gstreamer0.10 is buildable again.

(I suspect there were issues with the last libxml2 major release, but then its upstream has improved the backwards compatibility with the newer patch releases.)

gstreamer0.10 fails to build, so this package in turn also cannot be built on a clean Arch Linux environment.

This all works great on a clean Manjaro install, thanks for keeping it updated :)

Broken EOL Linux binary from 2015. Better to delete and use the latest Windows release from 2023 in WINE.

I can confirm that still in November 2020, rm /opt/scrivener/lib/libfreetype.so.6 as su or sudo works as a charm. Doesn't launch before this.

I can confirm as of late October 2019, that the method of deleting (or moving) /opt/scrivener/lib/libfreetype.so.6 still works and the scrivener app can be launched afterwards.

The Linux version of this program is essentially aging abandonware, but I STILL prefer it over other “similar” programs that I have tried and I have tried many. After a while, trying to find an actively updated replacement just starts to feel like time wasted not using a program that currently works well for me. I very much welcome something new and improved but at a minimum has the features that I rely on now. However, I know of no reason not to use this program until that becomes, in my opinion, an actual option. [/lifestory]

Thanks to Revelation60 for making this available for easy installation and additional thanks to caseyjp1, ksteak and TrevorBramble for their help so that people like myself can start it up now.

Confirmed. After rm /opt/scrivener/lib/libfreetype.so.6 I can launch Scrivener again.

FYI: Scrivener has been abandoned since January 2, 2016.
