@caseyjp1 - I was getting this same error with both aur and tarball from their forums. I looked it up and found somebody with the same error in mathmatica that fixed by deleting freetype. I went into the lib folder and removed libfreetype.so.6 and now scrivener will launch.

As of fairly recently scrivener is broken with this error:

/usr/bin/scrivener /opt/scrivener/bin/Scrivener: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libfontconfig.so.1: undefined symbol: FT_Done_MM_Var

Bump... can anyone confirm whether they are/are not able to play MP3 files within Scrivener?

taylo45 commented on 2016-08-24 21:52 (UTC)

I believe it is implemented in the Linux build. When I select an MP3 that I've added to the project, the "play" "fast forward" and "rewind" options under View > Media are greyed out. There's also this on the L&L forum: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=18244&p=135989&hilit=mp3#p140909 Tried running from CLI, no errors given. All likely relevant libraries are installed. Tried rebuilding scrivener, no change. Suggestions?

Perhaps you are missing some libraries? If you run scrivener from the command line you may capture an error message. I haven't tried if this feature works for me. It could also be that it's not implemented in the Linux build.

Is there any reason why scrivener should fail to play MP3s/audio files within the software? I can't find any explanations in the L&L forums.

Fabulous thanks. Biggest thing I was worried about when moving from Ubuntu was potentially problems installing Scrivener - great package!!

That worked for me, thanks! Literature and Latte should make the code for linux free/open source... Excellent software, needs a just as robust linux version.

I have added support for i686, so hopefully it works now!

At the moment the package is 64 bit only, but you can change this by replacing amd64 to i386 in the PKGBUILD. I will think about a better solution.
