kazaii commented on 2023-06-21 01:28 (UTC)

thanks @enderst. Update pushed.

Apologies, everyone. Poor timing for the release as I was away for NANOG88 / vacation in the PNW. Lesson learned to migrate my pgp key to my VPN architecture, so I can pump an update remotely.

with "paru" I move the "scrt-9.3.2-2978.ubuntu22-64.x86_64.deb" in "~/.cache/paru/clone/scrt/" for make it works ;-)

kazaii commented on 2023-03-22 23:07 (UTC)

Thanks for reaching out , kdb8doa. I will now add pamac to my tests.

The issue is the structure... you need to move the .deb file into your equivalent version of this folder...

kazaii@aur-build scrt]$ pwd
/var/tmp/pamac-build-kazaii/scrt
[kazaii@aur-build scrt]$ ls | grep .deb
scrt-9.3.2-2978.ubuntu22-64.x86_64.deb
[kazaii@aur-build scrt]$

I could reproduce your issue before (with the file being in /var/tmp/ )

==> ERROR: scrt-9.3.2-2978.ubuntu22-64.x86_64.deb was not found in the build directory and is not a URL.
Error: Failed to build scrt
[kazaii@aur-build ~]$

after I moved the file to /var/tmp/pamac-build-<username>/scrt, it built properly:

[kazaii@aur-build ~]$ pamac build scrt

It appears as though my PAMAC is configured to use /var/tmp as the build directory. I have placed the .deb file into /var/tmp and am still getting: Building scrt... ==> Making package: scrt 9.3.2-1 (Tue 21 Mar 2023 11:02:00 PM EDT) ==> Checking runtime dependencies... ==> Checking buildtime dependencies... ==> Retrieving sources... ==> ERROR: scrt-9.3.2-2978.ubuntu22-64.x86_64.deb was not found in the build directory and is not a URL. Furthermore, I've made a request with Vandyke to consider non debian users... or simply supply a flatpak for users who want less fuss, especially SteamDeck users.

Thanks for your comment, GeBo. I've now modified the PKGBUILD to support the deb version. Thanks for your continued loyalty to the package.

I tested this on a cleanbuild of an Arch VM & my existing build of Manjaro VM, along with my workstation.

The deb convention makes a lot of the build script redundant in format; A large purge of the PKGBUILD script will come in the near future -- it can definitely be reduced down to a few lines.

As usual, let me know if you come across issues.

GeBo commented on 2023-02-10 12:45 (UTC)

I downloaded version 9.3.2 (build 2978) and used debtap to create a tar.zst. With pacman -U I then installed that created file.

But I love receiving new versions through the AUR, as I'm not always aware of them available.

kazaii commented on 2023-01-24 14:27 (UTC)

I received a response from Vandyke this morning. Indeed, the Tar.gz format is deprecated for SCRT Delivery

Tar.gz files are no longer being posted and are not available as a delivery mechanism for new versions of SecureCRT for Linux.

This was removed on purpose, yes, it is a deprecated delivery method, and it is permanent.

I will try to adjust the PKGBUILD to accommodate for .deb file format this weekend. Please standby.

For those that need a more expeditious intervention, please email/matrix me directly for a workaround.
