The differences between this package and sddm-theme-sugar-candy-git:

  1. The name of this package is similar to sddm-sugar-light and sddm-sugar-dark.
  2. sddm-theme-sugar-candy-git installs the theme as Sugar-Candy which is not expected. According the README, the name of this sddm theme should be sugar-candy.
  3. sddm-theme-sugar-candy-git will install many unnecessary components which increase the size of this package to 6.52 MB, this package will only install the fewest necessary components that will only use 3.06MB.
  4. The source code used in sddm-theme-sugar-candy-git is hosted in opencode.net which is not expected. According to the introduction in kde store, the source code url should be https://framagit.org/MarianArlt/sddm-sugar-candy. Also, these two repositories have some differences in commits.

@sainnhe, thank you very much. Yeah, I guess this is bug from pacman and I hope it will be fixed soon. Because of that, maybe this will still be an issue if installed with AUR helper. This fix/workaround seems only applicable if installed manually using makepkg. Thank you.

@latipun: Should be fixed now. This looks like a bug of pacman, but I failed to report this bug to upstream :(

@sainnhe, it is success, I guess. Here's a recording after I run sudo pacman -R sddm-sugar-candy-git: https://asciinema.org/a/OqMCFRlyuwr6Mciti5tiWfbyK

@latipun: Could you try to edit PKGBUILD and change sddm>=0.18 to sddm?

@sainnhe, I made a full recording at https://asciinema.org/a/BtGrGe6nRsa0qp8wSuKI7KYBr for the step I install sddm and this theme.

@ latipun: What's the output of pacman -Qi sddm-git? Maybe your sddm-git is out of date.

@sainnhe , I didn't install this using AUR helper. I donwload this PKGBUILD and installed it with makepkg -si, that's why I thought it's weird. I don't know what is wrong, since this AUR already provides sddm.

@latipun: Looks like a bug of your aur helper. sddm-git provides sddm, it shouldn't tell you that you have to install sddm. Try install this package via makepkg.

latipun commented on 2023-01-27 10:28 (UTC)

I can't install this if I have sddm-git. It is always trying to install sddm and conflict with sddm-git.
