I just uploaded a patched libva-vdpau-driver package to AUR ( https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/libva-vdpau-driver-shadow/ ) which seems to make shadow-beta work on Nvidia cards with the proprietary drivers and VDPAU (at least it does on the two machines I've tried so far). No H.265 support, but regular H.264 seems to run fine. You have to use the --bypass-check option to override the compatibility test.

If anyone tries it out and finds it broken (or working), please let me know over there or on GitHub. :)

it's a beta package for a beta apps. I'm trying to maintain it and be usable release after release

Nover commented on 2018-09-19 22:55

Hey guys ! The node Warnings doesn't block the usage of the app, don't worry.

After the installation, you may experience issues as the app does not support NVIDIA GPU right now, and moreover needs a good VA API installation. This can't be done on this package, that is why a tutorial has been written for you, Linux users: https://nicolasguilloux.github.io/blade-shadow-beta/

We will be more careful for the next release. I created a bunch of VM to test it but as the app directly talks to the GPU, it's pretty hard to debug. Please, visit the git of the Linux Community on Shadow, and report your issues on the Discord of your country. ;)

@Shywim this happens when installing it manually:

$ makepkg -si

    report.pl ... FAILED
==> ERROR: One or more files did not pass the validity check!

when deleting wrapper.pl and report.pl manually and rerun makepkg then it works fine!

@Shywim This is likely a related problem, however I think the real problem is that the makepkg download mechanism is confused by the fact that report.pl and wrapper.pl are already present...

@agentcobra why do you have empty files report.pl and wrapper.pl in the repo, when these are downloaded anyway?

A fresh clone of the repo:

$ makepkg

@freedent @8sd if you use yay, or another wrapper, try using the makepkg way, it works for me. (I filed an issue on the yay repo https://github.com/Jguer/yay/issues/892 )

8sd commented on 2019-02-12 11:36

@agentcobra When installing the package I get the error of invalid md5 hash sums as well.

    report.pl ... FAILED

agentcobra commented on 2019-02-09 20:51

@freedent, md5 sum are correct for commit 76fea495eda10a2a7edef93609d176ac141c648e

freedent commented on 2019-02-09 19:15

Wrong md5sun Correct md5sum for wrapper.pl and raport.pl :

md5sums=('22bb2b72fe91d35fe6fe7311e7da091e'

'd41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e' #New

New update from Shadow.

I modified : - md5sum of shadow-alpha-bionic (22bb2b72fe91d35fe6fe7311e7da091e) - command ar xv shadow/shadow-beta-bionic-.deb (before ar xv shadowalpha-bionic-.deb)

Just one error when makepkg compress the package : Can't translate linkname '/home/freedent/Téléchargements/shadow-beta/report.pl' to UTF-8

But not found for me, the stream start and crash. Maybe my Nvidia driver...

Hi guys, I tried the shadow beta client but since i have a NVIDIA GPU it doesnt work.

My motherboard-Chipset has an iGPU (ATI Radeon™ HD 3000) - do you guys think shadow will work with the iGPU?

It didnt work with the Windows-Client - thats why I bought the NVIDIA Card in the first place. But I dont want to use Windows anymore.

If the iGPU doesnt work - do you think a cheap AMD Radeon R7 260X will work with shadow beta?

Thank you in advance for your help guys.

Cheers
