@jfernandz siji-ng package (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/siji-ng/) does not have fc-cache issue.

@jfernandz I'm having the same issue after a reinstallation. Did you find any sort of fix?

@brandon099 I find particularly bothering to have to run
fc-cache -f
on every boot because the font is purged from fonts cache, what do you suggest to fix this?I'm using polybar so if I don't do this on every boot I can't see glyphs properly rendered.

I have to run
fc-cache -f
on every boot. Why is the font purged from cache on every shutdown?Filsinger commented on 2020-07-04 06:38 (UTC)
You forgot to increment
pkgrel
when you changed the dependencies.brandon099 commented on 2020-06-30 01:16 (UTC)
@agorg_louk Thanks for the note. It's been fixed.

Package xorg-font-utils is now removed from Arch repositories, please replace with xorg-mkfontscale.

I had the same problem; modifying the PKGBUILD to install the bdf version fixed for me too:

Siji currently isn't working for me due to the latest FreeType update, which invalidated siji.pcf. https://github.com/stark/siji/issues/28
Manually installing the .bdf font from the repo solved the problem.

The .install is not necessary (a wizard from IRC told me to comment that here arguing that the cache font was already handled by the "pacman hook")
