Please don't post here (or on any other AUR packages) about out of date versions. Use the "Flag package out-of-date" link at the top. Also, BEFORE flagging this package out of date please check that it has not already been updated here to the new version.

Note that AUR package skypeforlinux-stable-bin is the version Microsoft release as their "stable" version. AUR package skypeforlinux-preview-bin is the version Microsoft release as their preview version and will always be a later version than the stable version.

@Hi-Angel it gives a seg fault, exactly like @ava1ar described (after upgrading glibc and etc).

Here's the output (without gdb):

$ /usr/share/skypeforlinux/skypeforlinux [1] 27486 segmentation fault (core dumped) /usr/share/skypeforlinux/skypeforlinux

And here's the output of gdb after the run command:

Starting program: /usr/share/skypeforlinux/skypeforlinux [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled] Using host libthread_db library "/usr/lib/libthread_db.so.1".

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x0000000000d20020 in ?? ()

I hope this helps :)

@ava1ar does it not start, or what? Do you see any useful output in terminal?

Upgrading to glibc 2.28 breaks this package and stable version as well...

@mxfm I started having this too. Downgraded to skypeforlinux-stable-bin.

After update to version 8.27.76.16-1 (https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/commit/?h=skypeforlinux-preview-bin&id=b31a9c7f90fa) skype is restarted when I press video chat button or when I reply to video chat request. Does anyone experience this kind of bug?

Since Skype is gtk3 based already, how come it run-time depends on gconf? Is it just makedepend?

@bulletmark, I just want to say 'thank you!' for how reliably you have been maintaining the skypeforlinux packages during all that time! Cheers!

@Sven: You can try disabling notifications inside the application or insalling/enabling a notification daemon. Cheers

With any skypeforlinux version so far, I have the problem that skype freezes as soon as I get a message. I had this problem on gentoo, a year ago. And I still have that problem with Arch Linux right now. I dont know what to do. Did anybody have the same problem and find a solution? I'm using the mate desktop environment.

Hi,

I've installed this package and calls work fine, but I'm missing the option to share my screen... I can't really find a solution online though.
