Sorry to inform you raininja that slimjet 24.0.5.0 is available since 2019-10-5. Anyway thanks for your work.

The current release is listed as 24.0.2.0 but the version in the About section of the settings says 24.0.3.0 . IDK, ask the slimjet devs!

I just tried to install Slimjet and got the same error message as @scjet below. This is what I got.

Preparing... Cloning slimjet build files... Checking slimjet dependencies...

Building slimjet... ==> Making package: slimjet 23.0.10.0-1 (Fri 23 Aug 2019 14:07:08 AEST) ==> Checking runtime dependencies... ==> Checking buildtime dependencies... ==> Retrieving sources... -> Found LICENSE -> Found slimjet-23.0.10.0_amd64.deb ==> Validating source files with md5sums... LICENSE ... Passed ==> Validating source_x86_64 files with md5sums... slimjet-23.0.10.0_amd64.deb ... FAILED ==> ERROR: One or more files did not pass the validity check!

Thanks, Ian

EDIT: I fixed the problem by editing the PKGBUILD before applying it (using the GUI to copy and paste a new MD5 checksum value into the script). I realised too late that I had copied the checksum from the wrong version, 23.0.11.0, but I hadn't changed the version, it was still 23.0.10.0. However, strangely, the build worked and Slimjet was successfully installed. I don't know how two different versions could have the same checksum, but I'm a complete noob. On top of that the version it installed was 23.0.11.0.

;-) Ian

Hi raininja, are you still going to maintain this package?

@j1simon this bowser sends data like any other browsers. Privacy and security different things

FYI: https://spyware.neocities.org/articles/slimjet.html

I think this package should be removed for a basic security issue.

StratosL commented on 2018-12-19 17:07 (UTC)

Why can't it work without root permissions? This is by itself a security risk.

dreieck commented on 2018-09-02 13:57 (UTC)

It does not seem to provide a system wide pepper-flash (It is in /opt/slimjet/PepperFlash, but not installed system-wide). So, consider removing the provides-entry, since it creates unnessesary conflicts with other packages.

(Same with slimjet. There is no slimjet symlinked to /usr/bin.)
