Thanks for testing all three, that's very helpful! I've added __NV_DISABLE_EXPLICIT_SYNC=1 to the troubleshooting guide as the first thing to try on NVIDIA + Wayland: https://github.com/kohii/smoothcsv3/blob/main/docs/troubleshooting.md

A fix that needs no manual step is still open. I'm waiting for results from a few other setups to decide which default is safe to ship.

Thanks! I tested both separately after terminating SmoothCSV first, and both fixes worked.

__NV_DISABLE_EXPLICIT_SYNC=1 smoothcsv-app

SmoothCSV starts successfully, and I haven't noticed any visual issues with this workaround.

WEBKIT_DMABUF_RENDERER_FORCE_SHM=1 smoothcsv-app

This also starts successfully. However, during window resizing, the top title bar / window decoration briefly disappears before being redrawn. I don't see this artifact with __NV_DISABLE_EXPLICIT_SYNC=1.

My WebKitGTK version is:

webkit2gtk-4.1 2.52.6-1

For reference, WEBKIT_DISABLE_DMABUF_RENDERER=1 also works as reported earlier.

So far, __NV_DISABLE_EXPLICIT_SYNC=1 seems to work best on my setup.

Thanks for looking into this.

@Aurea Thanks for the report! I'll look into it.

The same issue is tracked at https://github.com/kohii/smoothcsv3/issues/146. If you have time, could you check whether either of these alone also fixes it? Quit SmoothCSV first (pkill -f smoothcsv-app).

__NV_DISABLE_EXPLICIT_SYNC=1 smoothcsv-app
WEBKIT_DMABUF_RENDERER_FORCE_SHM=1 smoothcsv-app

Your WebKitGTK version (pacman -Q webkit2gtk-4.1) would help too.

Hi, thanks for maintaining this package.

On Arch Linux with Wayland + NVIDIA, smoothcsv-app exits immediately with:

Gdk-Message: Error 71 (Protocol error) dispatching to Wayland display.

Running it with the following environment variable fixes the issue:

WEBKIT_DISABLE_DMABUF_RENDERER=1 smoothcsv-app

This appears to be a WebKitGTK DMA-BUF renderer issue on NVIDIA/Wayland.

It may be worth adding the following to the wrapper script, either unconditionally or only on NVIDIA systems:

export WEBKIT_DISABLE_DMABUF_RENDERER=1

Thanks again for maintaining the AUR package.

@yibe Thank you for the quick response and for disowning the package. I've adopted it and will maintain it. I also appreciate that you took the time to package SmoothCSV for AUR in the first place. Thanks again!

@kohii Certainly! I've just disowned the package as requested. You can now take over the maintainership.

Hello, I'm the original developer of SmoothCSV. I'd like to maintain the official -bin package myself.

Could you please orphan this package or transfer maintainership?
